Robb Walsh is the authority on Texas Foods. The three-time James Beard Journalism Award winner has written more than a dozen books about Texas Food. He is the co-founder of Foodways Texas, a non-profit organizations dedicated to preserving Texas food and history that is headquartered at the University of Texas. In his spare time, he partners with Chef Bryan Caswell and Bill Floyd in the restaurant El Real Tex-Mex Café in Houston’s Montrose neighborhood.
Robb has served as a Restaurant Critic and Food Columnist for Houstonia Magazine, the Houston Press, Natural History Magazine, and the Austin Chronicle. He has also contributed feature articles to Gourmet, Saveur, Fine Cooking, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Cooking Light, Ecotraveler, and Texas Parks and Wildlife.
He will be partnering with Chef Daniel Friedrich at the San Angelo Country Club to present a menu of upscale Texas cuisine from his newest cookbook, The Chili Cookbook: A History of the One-Pot Classic with Cook-off Worthy Recipes from Three-Bean to Four-Alarm and his classic ode to Texas, Texas Eats: The New Lone Star Heritage Cookbook. Robb will present the history and anecdotes of each of the five courses paired with fine wines.
